Sound rights
Made by you. Yours to release.
Riser Studio is an instrument, and what you make with it is meant to be heard. This is the licence for your sounds, in plain words.
You can
- Use the sounds you make in music, film, trailers, games, advertising, streaming and client work.
- Use them commercially or not, royalty-free, with no per-sound or per-project fee.
- Release them without credit or attribution.
- Deliver finished work to publishers, labels, libraries and clients.
You cannot
- Sell, share or give away the factory content, or sounds taken from it, as samples, packs, presets or libraries.
- Use the factory content in a competing product.
- Use the factory content to train machine-learning models.
- Share your licence or your copy of Riser Studio.
Sounds you make
Sounds made using Riser Studio’s factory content are licensed for use in your finished work, royalty-free. That includes the Ascent / 100 and Infinity / 100 banks (100 Riser and 100 Shepard templates), the 24 designed textures and original synthesis palettes, whether you use a template as it is or change everything. Audio you import remains subject to its own rights, described below.
Use them in music, film and television, trailers, games, advertising, podcasts, streaming, live performance and client projects, commercial or not. There is no royalty, no per-project fee and no attribution required.
You can release, distribute and license finished work that contains them: tracks, master recordings, scores, cues, films and games, including through publishers, labels, distributors, production music libraries and clients. They do not need their own Riser Studio licence to use your finished work.
What stays with the instrument
The factory content is licensed to you for making your own sounds, not for passing on. You may not sell, license, share or give away any of it as sound material for other people: the templates and presets, the designed textures, the synthesis palettes, or sounds taken from them in isolation, whether unchanged or edited, processed or mixed. That rules out:
- samples, loops, one-shots, sound-effect collections, sample packs and sound libraries;
- preset or template packs, for Riser Studio or any other instrument;
- including them in a product that competes with Riser Studio or with a sound library;
- using them to train, fine-tune or otherwise develop a machine-learning model.
The line is simple: using a sound inside your own finished work is allowed; handing it on for other people to use in theirs is not.
Presets you save
Your presets can carry factory content inside them, so they follow the same rule. Keep them, back them up and move them between your licensed Mac and Windows computers, and share them with collaborators who have their own Riser Studio licence. Do not publish or sell them. Activation keys are separate from presets and must not be shared.
Your own recordings
Audio you import stays yours, and we claim no rights in it. The restrictions above apply to Riser Studio’s factory content, not to your recordings.
You are responsible for having the rights to the audio you bring in, and those rights still apply to any sound you make from it. Buying or downloading a copy of a recording does not give you its copyright.
An audio engine without AI generation
Riser Studio’s audio engine uses native synthesis, granular and spectral processing, your imported audio and designed factory textures. The factory textures are permanently processed from recordings we have permission to use this way; the original source recordings are not included. The audio engine has no neural models or AI generation service. Riser Studio does not add AI model terms to your audio; the terms attached to anything you import still apply.
Your work stays on your computer
Riser Studio makes and exports sound locally on Mac and Windows. It does not upload your recordings, presets or exports to our activation service. Files you deliberately send to a collaborator, support or your own cloud storage are under your control. The Privacy Policy explains the separate data used for licensing.
For your publisher or client
If a publisher, label or client asks how a sound was made, point them to this page: sounds made with Riser Studio may be used royalty-free in finished commercial work, with no attribution and no licence needed on their side.
This page is part of the Terms of Sale & Licence and covers the rights we are entitled to grant. It is not an indemnity, and it cannot clear audio you bring in yourself.
